BBAHC medical travel — which office arranges your Medicaid trip (changed August 10, 2026)
Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation (BBAHC) announced on August 4, 2026 that, effective August 10, 2026, it transfers coordination of IHS beneficiary Medicaid travel to the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC). For IHS beneficiary Medicaid travel, contact the ANMC Travel Management Office at 866-824-8140 or 907-729-7720. Non-beneficiary Medicaid travel and non-Medicaid travel stay with BBAHC's Patient Travel Department at 907-842-9336 or 800-478-5201. Medicaid travel for behavioral health or dental appointments is still coordinated by those departments (Behavioral Health 907-842-1230, Dental 907-842-5245). BBAHC says patients already in travel status are not affected. The notice does not say who is approved for a trip; the travel office decides.

BBAHC's notice sorts travel by patient group: IHS beneficiaries using Medicaid travel (not behavioral health or dental) go to ANTHC; non-beneficiary Medicaid and non-Medicaid travel stays with BBAHC Patient Travel; behavioral health and dental Medicaid travel stays with those departments. The notice does not say who is approved for travel or how referrals work.
