Water levels of 2 to 4 feet above the normal high tide line, peaking during high tide. * WHERE...Western Arctic Coast from Point Hope south. * WHEN...From 10 AM Thursday to 4 AM AKDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Localized beach erosion may occur. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A low in the Western Bering Sea will send a front moving east in the coast, resulting in south to southeast winds ramping up Thursday through Friday, before diminishing through Saturday. Water levels will remain elevated through Friday before gradually subsiding Friday night into Saturday.

A reminder that the Do Not Drink Order has been LIFTED, and Kaktovik’s community water is safe to drink. Our primary goal is and has been to provide the community with safe, clean drinking water and to continue meeting the life-safety needs of Kaktovik residents. Moving forward, the North Slope Borough Public Works Department is taking proactive steps to strengthen the water system, including: Regular testing for glycol in the water system Additional maintenance and inspections Necessary facility improvements and upgrades These efforts will be applied across the North Slope to support safe and reliable community water systems. We remain committed to doing what is necessary to support the health and well-being of Kaktovik—and all North Slope residents. Between Wednesday and Friday, snowfall totals will range from 2 to 4 inches. Isolated locations under any persistent heavier snow may see up to 6 inches. Winds will be strongest today near Utqiagvik (Barrow) then weaken tomorrow, but strongest Thursday night into Friday from Nuiqsut to Kaktovik. Wind gusts will be up to 30 mph which may result in areas of blowing/drifting snow, lowering visibility at times.
