Toiyabe Purchased/Referred Care (PRC) — eligibility screening

Purchased/Referred Care (PRC) can pay for a limited number of services that Toiyabe's clinics do not provide, when funds are available. It is not insurance and not an entitlement. A Toiyabe provider must make the referral, and PRC staff must approve payment before any non-emergency outside care; a referral alone does not guarantee payment. Emergency care must be reported to PRC within 72 hours (30 days for elders 55 and older and people with disabilities). Call PRC at 760-873-6111 or ask for a PRC representative at the Bishop Clinic.

Who it’s for & requirements

PRC staff screen each patient: documentation as an American Indian from a California tribe, or as a member of a federally recognized non-California tribe living on a reservation in California; living in Toiyabe's service area; a completed PRC application; and using other coverage you qualify for, such as Medi-Cal or Medicare, first. Patients are rescreened every six months.
