Bishop Paiute Tribal Elders Program — Title VI meals and caregiver support
The Bishop Paiute Tribal Elders Program's Title VI program provides free, well-balanced hot meals and supportive services to qualified American Indians, their spouses, volunteers, caregivers and homebound elders. Congregate meals are served at the Elders Building, 350 North Barlow Lane. Every elder fills out an intake form before receiving services. People under 55 who are not eligible under the program's policies are guests and pay $6.00 per meal. This is a tribal program, separate from Inyo County's senior meals.
Who it’s for & requirements
As the program states it: an American Indian enrolled in a federally recognized tribe who is 55 or older, or anyone married to an American Indian 55 or older living on the Bishop Paiute Reservation; a totally disabled Indian person under 55 living with an elder or in an elder's house. Ask the program how this applies to you.
