DMV services, Real ID, road tests & driving lessons in Bethel (Eagle River Driving School at Yuut)

Bethel has no permanent DMV; the Eagle River Driving School (ERDS) flies in several times a year and sets up at Yuut Elitnaurviat, 610 Akiachak Drive, 2nd floor left wing, room 212 (across from the swimming pool). DMV services -- issuing or renewing standard and Real IDs, driver's permits and licenses, vehicle registrations and titles -- are walk-in, no appointment (visits are announced on Yuut's website and Facebook; typical hours 8:30 a.m.-12:15, 12:45-5:15, 5:45-7 p.m.). The Alaska DMV has also held temporary office weeks at Bethel City Hall (e.g., Aug 2026), announced on the City of Bethel Facebook page. Road tests, driving lessons and permit exams require an appointment: call Yuut Elitnaurviat at 907-543-0994 (Yuut main office 907-543-0991). Under-18 drivers must have held a permit at least 6 months before a road test; 18+ just need a permit. You can take the free practice knowledge test and the actual General Knowledge (permit) test online at dmv.alaska.gov. Bring the Real ID checklist documents (certified birth certificate or passport, SSN, two proofs of Alaska address); order a missing birth certificate at vitalchek.com.
